(Cover) - EN Movies - Bradley Cooper has signed on to appear in The Place Beyond the Pines.

The Hollywood actor will star alongside Ryan Gosling in the Derek Cianfrance-directed crime drama.

Ryan will play a motorcycle stunt rider who turns to a life of bank robbing in order to support his newborn baby, while Bradley - who had been rumoured to star in the picture for some time - will play the rookie cop who crosses paths with Ryan's tearaway character.

The film is being helmed by the man who created 2010 romantic drama Blue Valentine starring Ryan and Michelle Williams.

Bradley, who is currently enjoying success as Phil in The Hangover Part II, will next be seen as Lucifer in Alex Proyas' Paradise Lost. The 36-year-old is also shooting The Words this month, and has been offered the lead in the remake of The Crow.

The Place Beyond the Pines has been written by Derek and Ben Coccio and is set to start production in New York in July. (C) Cover Media
