Bret Michaels: Its tough being a dad

25th April 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Bret Michaels has opened up about his family life, saying he finds it hard to see his two children get upset.

The rock star has revealed that his ten-year-old daughter Raine recently experienced her first break-up and he is struggling to know how to handle the situation. He does his best to give his kids freedom, but hates to see them unhappy and always wants to do something to help.

I try to stay out of their [my childrens] business, but Im like, What are you breaking my daughters heart for? It must be God getting even with me, Bret said.

The Poison frontman also opened up about his medical problems.

In 2010, Bret was diagnosed with a subarachnoid haemorrhage, a stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled areas at the base of the brain. He then suffered a warning stroke and subsequently underwent intensive rehab, before undergoing surgery to fix a hole in his heart.

The 48-year-old admitted that it was a highly emotional time for him and his family.

Brett says the hardest part was talking to his daughters Raine and Jorja, five, about his impending surgery.

You know me, I dont scare my girls, he explained. I said everything is going to be great. Still, we cried the night before the operation. But afterwards, they saw me at home, and they were great.

Brett also credited his partner of over 16 years and the mother of his two children, Kristi Gibson, for always supporting him. Kristi never left my side, he added (C) Cover Media
