(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Britney Spears has offered to help Lindsay Lohan, according to reports.

The 28-year-old pop star famously suffered a public meltdown after the breakdown of her marriage to dancer Kevin Federline, but she has now got her life back on track. It has been claimed Britney is eager to help her friend Lindsay, 24, recover from her recent problems.

The actress was taken into custody last Friday when Judge Elden Fox denied her bail after she failed two random court-ordered drug tests. However, following an appeal from Lindsays legal team the star walked free from the Lynwood Correctional Facility later that night.

It has been reported Lindsay has now checked into a rehab facility, and Britney has reached out to her as she understands the pain Lindsay must be going through.

A source told Closer magazine that Britney offered to have a chat with Lindsay, although insiders claim the actress her turned down.

What Lindsay doesnt see is that Britney is the perfect cautionary tale for her. If she doesnt start to listen now, she could end up just like Britney did, added the source.

Lindsay is currently wearing a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet and must avoid visiting places where alcohol is the chief item of sale.

Earlier this year, the star spent 13 days in jail and 23 days in rehab after she violated the terms of her 2007 conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Upon leaving rehab she had to submit to a number of rules including random drug tests, but failed two.

There were rumours Lindsay may be placed under conservatorship as she battles her problems. This would see another person put in charge of her personal and professional life, as is the case with Britney whose father Jamie Spears is her co-conservator. (C) Cover Media
