Caste no Bar, says Kumar

11th July 2011
Kumar has learnt the tricks of the cinema trade from the camp of superstar Upendra (director and actor). He believes his Kannada film 'Gavipura' will strike an instant connection with the people, especially the youngsters. Kumar has woven how the caste system plays havoc with the relationship of two lovers.

It is a part of this director's personal life. He and his fiancé were from two different castes. Surprisingly, the parents agreed but the boy's uncle destroys their relationship. This incident changed his life.

"Caste differentiation does so much of damage to society. Youngsters try to break free from the shackles of caste or at least make a start in that direction, I am sure people will begin to see reason. This is what the film 'Gavipura' hopes for," says Kumar.

Sooraj Sasanur, the son of a KAS officer and close relative of former senior cop Vijaya Sasanur, makes his debut in this film with ramp show specialist Soujanya. It is the debut for Soujanya in Kannada cinema. The parents of Sooraj and Soujanya are from different castes.
