Cheran is miffed with upcoming film-makers

22nd February 2012

Director-actor Cheran on Tuesday requested filmmakers not to use the titles of yesteryear movies, especially those of MGR and Sivaji Ganesan starrers.

Speaking at the trailer launch of the digitised version of Sivaji's evergreen hit "Karnan" in Chennai, Cheran said, 'Can anyone recreate the magic of MGR or Sivaji? So, by keeping the titles of their films, the present filmmakers are bringing disrespect to them'.

He added: 'Today, anyone can act in films irrespective of whether he/she has acting talent or not. So my request is to not to insult the two great actors by using the titles of their classic movies.'

The much-acclaimed epic "Karnan" starring Sivaji Ganesan is all set to revisit Chennai theatres. To be presented by Shanthi Chokkalingam of Divya Films, the movie directed by B R Banthulu has completely been made digital.

'We have restored the sound negative and provided sound in DTS 5.1. We have used state-of-the-art technology to convert it for screening in 2K resolution screening and fit was screening in cinema scope. But we have not tampered with the original,' said Shanthi.
