Chetan Bhagat's Revolution 20 20 will now be a film

18th November 2011

Popular author Chetan Bhagat must be on a high these days. It has not even been a month since the author has released his latest book Revolution 20 20 and the rights to develop it into a film has already been acquired by UTV Motion Pictures. The production house is now planning to develop the story into a full fledged feature film.

Chetan Bhagat further confirmed the news by saying ,"My latest book Revolution 2020 has really been appreciated by readers all over. The book deals with issues that are topical for today's youth and has definite potential for being made into a film." He went on to add that "UTV finally managed to seduce me. They read the book before it was officially released and loved it. They were keen to remake it into a film and I am glad that the deal has now materialized. Immense excitement about the story and a wonderful team makes me feel they can do justice to Revolution 2020.”

Apparently UTV is planning to rope in three Bollywood A-listers for the lead characters of Gopal, Aarti and Raghav soon.

It may be recollected that the Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots (2009), which was based on Bhagat’s debut novel Five Point Someone turned out to be the biggest grosser of all time in Indian cinema while his second book 'One Night at the Call Center' turned into a box-office dud when it was made into a feature film titled 'Hello'.

With the book being immensely popular among the masses and the author's claim that more than 8.5 lakh copies been sold already in just over a month, it remains to be seen that whether the story when made into a film will be a hit or a box-office dud.
