Chris Colfer annoyed musicals are now cool

7th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Chris Colfer is kind of bitter that singing in a choir has become cool because of Glee.

The 20-year-old actor portrays Kurt Hummel in the hit American TV show about a group of high school misfits who sing together in a club.

The star has spoken in the past about his struggle to fit in at school due to his love of musical theatre, and he now admits to being slightly resentful that his major passion which was once mocked has become hip thanks to the programme.

"Now, because of the show, it's not [stupid and sad], which kind of makes me bitter. Now it's the cool thing, and I feel like, 'well, you're welcome America! You're welcome world!'" he laughed in an interview with British newspaper The Guardian.

Glee also stars Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Lea Michele and Amber Riley. Amber plays Mercedes Jones in the show, and she too felt isolated at high school due to her love of singing. The talented 24-year-old star didnt let her lack of popularity get her down though, and preferred to focus on making it in the world of showbiz. Fortunately for Amber, she had a loving family who doubled up as her pals.

"I didn't really fit in anywhere, and I didn't know why. But I just wanted to get through it. I didn't really care about having friends I have a huge family, so they were my friends and I just kept my head down, stayed out of trouble, did my work, and graduated, she explained. (C) Cover Media
