(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Coldplay are financing a contemporary film noir.

The British band are lending their support to a film called Ashes which will star Ray Winstone, Jim Sturgess, Lesley Manville, Jodie Whittaker, and Luke Evans. The alternative rock group, comprising of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion, will work with CinemaNX, a film production company backed by the Isle of Man Government.

Not much is known about the story at present, but the script is written by Paul Viragh and is helmed by Mat Whitecross, whose previous credits include Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll - a 2010 biopic of Ian Dury, starring Andy Serkis.

The movie is being produced by Esther Douglas and Fiona Neilson of Fiesta Productions. The executive producers are Steve Christian and Marc Samuelson of CinemaNX, Phillip Keir of Merzbau and Coldplays Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Chris Martin.

Shooting is scheduled to begin on March 21 on the Isle of Man. (C) Cover Media
