(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Cy Waits says his split from Paris Hilton was inevitable.
The 34-year-old nightclub owner and the American socialite confirmed the end of their relationship at the end of last month, and insisted they would remain friends.
Cy has revealed that his split from Paris was a long time coming, and he now hopes to refocus his energy on his career.
"I don't want to speak for Paris, but this breakup is something I knew for a number of months needed to happen and we finally saw eye to eye," he told People. "I need to get back to focusing on my career."
Cy has listed the qualities he wants in his next partner. He has hinted that Paris didn't posses such endearing characteristics.
"In my next relationship I expect honesty, strong values, true communication, commitment, mutual trust and respect, something I didn't necessarily have recently," he said. "At the end of the day, I want my partner and I to have the same ethics."
Cy says his world differed vastly from Paris'. The blonde bombshell is renowned for her love of partying and social events, and Cy insists that lifestyle did not suit him.
"When I'm involved with someone, my focus is to keep is keeping them safe, trying to keep them out of trouble and always being supportive," he said. "Partying is not my thing. I live a healthy lifestyle. I avoid drugs. ... I have a social cocktail every now and then."
Paris, 30, and Cy began dating in late Spring last year, not long after the heiress split from The Hills star Doug Reinhardt, who she had been romancing on and off for just over a year.
The pair had not been seen together since June 3, when they attended an event in Las Vegas together.
