The Jury of Dadasaheb Phalke Awards, one of the most coveted honors, recently announced the recipients of the award. This year the recipients include some of the biggest names of the industry while some newcomers too will get recognized for their talent.
The biggest names of the lot are of Filmmaker Yash Chopra, actor Rajesh Khanna and legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle. The singer will be bestowed with the 'Phalke Ratna Award' while late filmmaker Yash Chopra will be honored with the 'Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award' for his contribution to Indian cinema. His wife Pamela Chopra will receive the 'Saraswatibai Phalke Award'.
Like Yash Chopra, Rajesh Khanna too will be honored with the posthumous award as the first superstar of Indian cinema. Dimple Kapadia will get the Phalke 'Ever Memorable actor award'.
Amongst the current ruling generation, Akshay Kumar will be given the 'Best Actor' award for 'Rowdy Rathore' while Manoj Bajpayee will get the 'Phalke Excellent Performance Award' for his performance in the film 'Gangs of Wasseyur'.
Irrfan Khan too has been shortlisted for 'Phalke Memorable Performance Award' for his film 'Paan Singh Tomar'.
'Ishaqzaade' star Arjun Kapoor will be honoured with 'Phalke Debut Actor Award'.
Slated to be held on April 30th, the 13th Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards will be organized at Bhaidas Auditorium in Vile Parle.
