Actress Amrita Rao has yet another reason to celebrate. After the success of her last release 'Thackeray', the actress has went on to bag the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award for best debut Marathi Cinema. Movie released in two languages- Hindi and Marathi.
The overwhelmed actress sharing the news tweeted, "Every Moment of THACKERAY & playing Meenatai Thackeray has been beyond special. SO Thankful to my Producer, my Director & now the Phalke Academy for this Honour 🙏"
Further sharing her thoughts on winning the award she said,"Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema is a Marathi and to receive an award on my Marathi debut is both symbolic and amazing."
"I am getting many offers after I'm back to films after a break and above all people were happy to see me on screen which is the best part. Though only something new and different will excite me because cinema is changing and even the method of acting has changed."
Based on life of founder of political party Shiv Sena, BalaSaheb Thackeray she played a titular role of Thackeray's wife Meenatai Thackeray. Nawazuddin Siddiqui played Balasaheb Thackeray onscreen.
Last time she was conferred with this award, was for her most celebrated most movie 'Vivah' starring Shahid Kapoor produced by Rajshri Entertainment. Award ceremony will take place on April 20, 2019. Check out her tweet below-
