For diehard romantics

'Aashiqui' was a movie that was a 'game changer' in Bollywood in the 90's, as it made people realize the 'power of music' in a movie. And now, the second installment is delivered after two decades.

Mohit Suri along with Mukesh Bhatt takes on the challenge of showing 'Selfless Love' in an era of Twitter and Facebook, but the big question is, will they succeed?

Rahul Jaykar (Aditya Roy Kapur) is a fading Rockstar who has serious drinking and commitment issues. While in Goa, he comes across a young girl Aarohi Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor) who is performing one of his songs in a bar. Rahul falls in love and sets on a mission to make her a star. He helps Aarohi's talent get recognition and makes her a star, however, he is not able to revive his own career despite desperate attempts. Rahul begins to get jealous and that's when the 'Abhimaan' movie angle kicks in as it's about a singing couple and the lady in the relation gets ahead of the man.

However, writer Shagufta Rafiqui gives the story some newness by mixing failure and drinking issues.

Mohit Suri's direction is simply superb, he creates situations that look real and audiences can connect to. He extracts some great performances from Aditya, Shraddha and even Shaad.

Aditya Roy Kapur has been in Bollywood for a couple of years, but 'Aashiqui 2' will finally give him recognition, he acts well and has the X-factor. Shraddha Kapoor has the vulnerability that the character needs and her voice has the innocence that works, she makes you believe in selfless love. Shaad Randhwa is another great actor and he proves that by delivering the emotional dialogues with great impact.

Aahsiqui 2's music is one of its biggest strength, 'Tum hi Ho' is the soul of the movie and the song makes you smile and cry too. 'Hum Mar Jayenge' is picturised beautifully and 'Sun Raha' and 'Tu hi bata' are great songs too and placed well in the movie.

'Aashiqui 2' works at times, but certain portions dealing with Rahul's drinking issue gets boring after a point.

Romance is one genre that is the most difficult one as you require conviction, and luckily for 'Aashiqui 2' Aditya and Shraddha make you believe in the 'power of love'.
