Danny Boyle: 127 Hours makes a life statement

13th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Danny Boyle thinks anyone would cut of one of their limbs when faced with a life or death scenario.

The British director is best known for his Academy Award-winning blockbuster Slumdog Millionaire. But its his latest film 127 Hours that has posed the most intriguing of questions. The movie is based on the real-life story of American mountain climber Aron Ralston, who was forced to amputate his lower right arm after becoming trapped whilst canyoneering.

The film doesnt ask, Would you do it? The film makes the statement You would do it, Danny told Empire magazine.

Its a sentiment echoed by the films producer, Christian Colson, who is adamant that the need to live outstrips any other emotion in the human body, including pain.

You might not work it out, you might f**k it up, you might not be smart enough to tourniquet yourself, you might not be fit enough to hike six miles to get out, but the film insists that the desire to live overrides. This is what makes it a Danny Boyle movie. Life overrides pain, fear, everything... We choose life, he revealed. (C) Cover Media
