Danny Dyer serious about Heroes movie

23rd May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Danny Dyer is proud of how well-behaved he was on the set of his new movie.

The British actor is famed for his hardnosed roles, having appeared in The Football Factory, The Business and Outlaw, and can next be seen in Age of Heroes opposite Sean Bean.

The film is based on the formation of Ian Fleming's 30 Commando unit during World War II - the template for the elite forces in the UK.

Even though other people were misbehaving on set, Danny was focused on the task ahead.

"As part of the charity Help for Heroes, what we did was we got some injured soldiers to come and join us on set. They got up to all sorts this lot. They were getting p**sed every night and acting pretty naughty, running around the hotel stark b*****k naked and stuff like that. Which is what men do," he explained. "You had to be on the ball constantly! For once I actually behaved myself."

Danny had too much respect for the film and the story it was telling to be turning up to set with a hangover. The star, who is famed for his mischievous personality, wanted to make a good impression so made sure he didn't over-indulge for the duration of filming.

"I'm the lead role. I'm in every scene. It's hard enough working with a hangover, but working with a hangover in temperatures of minus 20, while being surrounded by mountains of snow... I had a little drink. Most of the ex-soldiers were surprised because they expected me to get p**sed up every night, but I was going to bed early. I had a tough task and I wanted to do the role justice. I wanted them to believe that I could possibly be a commando. I took it very, very seriously," he explained.

Age of Heroes is in UK cinemas from May 20 and on DVD and Blu-ray on June 13. (C) Cover Media
