(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Dave Grohl says returning to his childhood bedroom always kept him grounded.
The 42-year-old rocker launched his career with iconic punk band Nirvana, and has enjoyed vast success as the frontman of Foo Fighters since the early 90s.
Dave is known for being one of the most down-to-earth stars in music, and credits this to frequently returning to his childhood home. The musician was raised in the US state of Virginia, and feels a close tie to the area.
"If I ever felt that I was getting swept away by the craziness of being in a band, well, I'd go back to Virginia. You know? And I'd spent the night in the room I grew up in. And I'd hang out with people I was in second grade with, and their kids, and Uncle Dave's here!' and whatever. I'd have a barbecue with the people I loved, and that kept me from getting lost," he told British newspaper The Observer. "I kept a lot of Virginia in me."
Dave was raised by his mother as his parents divorced when he was six. The rocker who has daughters Violet Maye, five, and two-year-old Harper Willow with wife Jordyn Blum says his family makes him happier than anything else.
"My mother was a public school teacher in Virginia, and we didn't have any money, we just survived on happiness, on being a happy family," he beamed. (C) Cover Media
