David Yates: Fans improved Potter movie

(Cover) - DE Movies - David Yates has credited letters from Harry Potter fans for improving the films.

The British director helmed the four most recent Harry Potter films including Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows, and is currently promoting the concluding chapter of the popular wizard movies, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

David admits he tried to steer clear of internet message boards while making the films, including the soon-to-be-released final instalment. However, he did take notice of the many fan letters he received.

"I never read the message boards," he told Collider. "Over the last six or so years I've been on maybe half a dozen times. What really helped though was fan letters. I read letters on what fans wanted to keep in the movie. But I got a couple of letters from people saying please keep this scene in because...

"And they help because the letters give you a sense what people love, but ultimately you have to serve the adaptation."

Now that David is finished working on the final Harry Potter movie, his fourth in the series back to back, he's desperate for a holiday. After working almost without a break for over six years, he laughed that meditative methods as well as alcohol helped him through the process.

"I mediated, did yoga and drank copious amounts of alcohol," he joked, after being asked how he managed to do it. (C) Cover Media
