Demi Lovato: New music is more adult

20th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Demi Lovato says her new album is "grown up" but not "tasteless".

The 19-year-old star is currently promoting Unbroken. She hopes fans will appreciate her latest musical offering as she feels it reflect her personal journey.

Demi entered a rehab facility for "emotional and physical issues" last year and felt inspired to use music to explain how she is feeling.

"I think it's grown-up, but it's not too grown-up," she told MTV News. "It's not tasteless. It's growing up with my fans. It's [like] I'm not a kid anymore, but I'm also not a full-grown woman either. So I'm in that in-between stage, trying to figure out where that is. So I'm figuring it out, just like my fans are."

Demi has worked with big names including Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Rock Mafia and Ryan Tedder for her new album. While her previous efforts have had a rock feel, Unbroken has more of an R&B flavour.

Demi insists she feels more comfortable recording R&B songs, admitting she has grown out of making rock music.

"This album is definitely more pop," she explained. "It's definitely more R&B. It's not so pop/rock anymore. I grew up listening to R&B, [and] I guess my rock thing was kind of like a phase.

"I like to experiment with my music." (C) Cover Media
