(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Denise Richards says she hit rock bottom during her split from Charlie Sheen.
The actress spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning and opened up about how life with the actor affected her.
Denise has two children with Charlie - Sam, seven, Lola, six, and has recently adopted a third daughter as a single mother, baby Eloise Joni.
"I went through so much in a very short period of time in my life and got through it. I really hit rock bottom at one point," she revealed.
The 40-year-old was married to the former Two and a Half Men star for four years before filing for divorce in 2005.
But she told Ryan that it has not always been easy to take the high road when her ex-husband is in the limelight for negative reasons.
"It's difficult, especially in the last six months as we've all seen a lot of stuff in the media," she explained.
"I honestly really wanted to protect the kids from it as much as I can and there were a lot of things that truly weren't my place to comment on."
The actress however, is sharing her opinion on Charlie's addictions and penchant for prostitutes in her new book The Real Girl Next Door.
She said that the night Charlie smashed up his room and accused a prostitute of stealing from him at the Plaza Hotel in New York was a surreal one.
"I think he was a little dumbfounded about why I was at dinner with my ex-husband and four hookers," she said of one of the police officers who arrived on the scene. "I was so nonchalant about it!"
But she says that as "painful" as it was being married to Charlie she does not regret it because she has "amazing children".
Meanwhile TMZ are reporting that the actress turned down an offer to appear on the premiere episode of Two and a Half Men with new star Ashton Kutcher.
They claim that Denise turned down the role because she "would never hear the end of it from Charlie". (C) Cover Media
