'Devudu Chesina Manushulu' - Movie Review

16th August 2012

Cast: Ravi Teja, Ileana D'cruz, Prakash Raj and Brahmanandam

Director: Puri Jagnnadh

Rating: 2/5

Oh God!

A lot was expected from 'Devudu Chesina Manushulu', since the Ravi Teja-Puri Jagannadh duo gave us 'Idiot' and 'Amma Nana O Tamil Ammayi' in the past.

The film, to be honest, is a disapointment, for there is nothing novel as far as the content is concerned. Besides the 'God' idea, other things are clichéd and hence, one gets a deja vu feel while watching the movie.

Though Ravi Teja tries his best to save the movie from falling flat, a screenplay which fails to create any interest plays spoilsport. As a result, the output of 'D.C.M.' is just an opposite of 'Idiot' and 'Amma Nana...'.

The film starts with Lakshmi (Kovai Sarala) praying to Lord Vishnu (Brahmanandam) asking him to tell her an interesting and entertaining story.

Accepting her prayer, the Lord begins the story of Ravi Teja (Ravi Teja), who is a settlement broker. One day Subba Raju (Subba Raju) unitentionally kills Sandy, a close associate of international don Prakash Raj (Prakash Raj).

Fearing for his life, Subba Raju asks Ravi Teja to strike a deal with Prakash Raj. As Ravi Teja goes to Bangkok to meet Prakash Raj, he comes across Ileana (Ileana D'cruz), a taxi driver.

Meanwhile, Prakash Raj lays a condition to Ravi Teja that he wants Ileana to sleep with him in order to accept Ravi Teja's offer. What's next is the climax of the film.

Ravi Teja comes with right emotions. But alas, all goes to waste in a wrong script. Ileana's performance is good. Doing this kind of roles should be a cakewalk for Prakash Raj and he simply shines.

Raghu Kunche's music is interesting and the songs are well-executed. Shyam K. Naidu has done a good cinematography, so are the dialogues by Puri Jagannadh at some places.

But the director has failed in narrating the film with an interesting screenplay. At least in the future we expect Ravi Teja and Puri to repeat their earlier magic.
