In his forthcoming film Sottavalakutty, Dhanush plays a youngster who makes bronze lamps in the town of Kumbakonam. The film is being directed by Sargunam also known as A. Sarkunam of 'Vaagai Sooda Vaa fame'.

"Sottavalakutty is a comedy-drama that revolves around a youngster who makes bronze lamps in Kumbakonam and falls in love with a dentist", says the director.

Vamsikrishna plays the role of a bad boy in the film. Nasser, Shayaji Shinde, Suri, Singam Puli, Sriman and Sathyan form part of the cast.

A search is on for the actress of the film.

"Gibran who gave hit numbers for Vaagai Sooda Vaa is composing the music, while cinematographer Omprakash will manage the camera. Vaali, Arivumathi will be penning the lyrics while Raja Mohammad will be the editor of the film", said director Sargunam's representative.
