(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Dr. Conrad Murray became emotional in court today during character witness testimonies in the 18th day of the Michael Jackson trial.

The 58-year-old physician listened as his best friend and patient Gerry Causey spoke about how he had saved his life.

Murray has been charged with involuntary manslaughter of the King of Pop who died in June 2009 from acute Propofol intoxication.

He is accused of being negligent for giving the 50-year-old the powerful anesthetic as a way to treat Jackson's insomnia.

But Causey, who was called as a defence witness, only had kind words about Murray who had performed a successful angioplasty on him.

Causey said that Murray was his best friend and gushed about the treatment he received and said Murray would even call his wife to give her his test results and details of upcoming appointments.

Murray was seen dabbing at his eyes in one of the only displays of emotion since the trial began four weeks ago.

Another patient, Andrew Guest, said that he was alive because of the care he received from Murray nothing would change his mind about that.

Dennis Hix also testified that Murray placed 12 stints in his heart and that he was the best doctor he ever had.

Murray again fought back tears when the fifth and final patient Ruby Mosley took the stand. The elderly woman who is also a friend of Murray's testified that the Thriller star's doctor was not a greedy person.

She said that Murray opened up a clinic in a low income area of Houston in honour of his late father.

Murray stands to be jailed for up to four years if convicted of the charges. He had pleaded not guilty to the claims. (C) Cover Media
