Dr. Conrad Murray sent to jail

7th November 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Dr. Conrad Murray was handcuffed and remanded in custody today after being found guilty for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson.

The 58-year-old former physician of the King of Pop showed no emotion as the jury delivered their verdict of guilty today at the Los Angeles Airport Courthouse.

Judge Michael Pastor went through the reasons why Murray was being remanded and stated that although he had been free during the trial, it was because he was presumed innocent.

But the judge stated that now Murray was a convicted felon whose actions caused the death of another human being, then he would have to now be behind bars until November 29 2011 when he will be sentenced.

The Judge also said Murray would be remanded with no bail so there is no chance he will be released from jail between now and his next court appearance.

The jury found beyond a reasonable doubt that Murray was guilty for causing the death of Jackson and the verdict was unanimous.

Hundreds of people gathered outside the legal building and cheers could be heard as well as tears from Jackson's fans who were relieved at the guilty verdict.

The handcuffs were put on Murray before he even got up from his chair and he looked at his mother, daughter and girlfriend Nicole Alvarez as he was led away.

Jackson's mother Katherine also showed no emotion, as directed by the court, as the verdict was read out but later hugged lead prosecutor David Walgren.

Murray faces a sentence ranging from probation to four years in prison and although both the prosecution and defence teams will file their recommendations, the decision is up to Judge Pastor alone. (C) Cover Media
