The Karnataka government had declared the birthday of the icon of Kannada cinema Dr. Rajakumar, as 'Dr. Rajakumar Jayanthi', two years ago. It is on par with any legend's birthday and the celebration is held by the government of Karnataka.

The Karnataka Chief Minister Dr. B.S. Yediyurappa will be inaugurating the event which Dr. D. Hemachandra Sagar will be presiding, at the Ravindra Kalakshetra, at 6 pm on the 24th of April. Home Minister R. Ashok, S.K. Nataraj, Mayor of Bengaluru, Ananthkumar MP, and Smt. Parvathamma Rajakumar are the chief guests. The key speaker on this occasion is Dr. Chandrasekhar Kambara.

The special guests on the evening of Dr Rajakumar Jayanthi are – actors Jaggesh, Srinath, Doddarange Gowda, T.S. Nagabharana, KCA Chairman, M. Rudresh President of Sri Kanteerava studio.

On 23rd April, a day prior to Dr. Raj's birth anniversary, his family has organized the 'Rajakumar Souhardha' awards presentation at Le Meredien. Veteran Shanimahadevappa, actor Bengaluru Nagesh and Smt. Devi, the famous choreographer of yesteryear, will be receiving the felicitation. Rs. One lakh cash and a trophy for each will be presented on this occasion by Dr. Rajakumar's family.
