Earl Spencer to speak at royal wedding?

26th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Britains Prince William is reportedly keen for his uncle Earl Spencer to give a speech about Princess Diana when he gets married.

William is believed to have thought that as the brother of the late Princess - who tragically passed away following a car accident in 1997 - Earl Spencer would be the ideal person to make a tribute to his mother when he marries Kate Middleton next year.

The Earl has six children, and his eldest daughter Lady Kitty, 19, is said to have told pals of the plan.

At Williams request, Charles Spencer will talk about his late sister Diana during the ceremony, the earls daughter Lady Kitty Spencer has told friends, reported British newspaper The Daily Mail.

Earl Spencer made a famously moving speech at Dianas funeral, which took place at Westminster Abbey, where William and Kate are to marry on April 29 next year. It is thought that by having Earl Spencer speak, William will feel his mother has a presence. The Prince has also given fianc Kate his mothers sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

Kitty said Charles Spencer and William have a good, solid relationship and its very important for William that his mother is at his wedding, so to speak. He made the point by giving his mothers ring to his future bride, a friend of Lady Kittys explained.

It is believed royal aides will meet the 46-year-old Earl and members of the Spencer family in London soon to discuss their role in the wedding. William and his brother Harry are pals with the Earls four children by his marriage to Victoria Lockwood ; Lady Kitty, twins Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia, 18, and 16-year-old the Honourable Louis Frederick.

The Spencers will inevitably have a prominent role at the wedding as guests they are blood family after all. At the moment anything else is speculation, as Prince William and Miss Middleton have yet to make these sorts of decisions, explained a St James Palace aide. (C) Cover Media
