October 20, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Singer Elton John, one of the most popular and successful artists of his times has poured his heart out on what he thinks about todays songwriters and the entertainment scenario in general. In an interview which was published this week, the British artist slams songwriters of this generation as pretty awful and the so called pop stars as absolutely uninspiring. Elton John is of the view that the present day music industry thrives on instant fame and does not have a long shelf life, while most singers become famous overnight thanks to several reality television shows, they do not possess the qualities that make a star.
Speaking about Simon Cowell, music producer and judge of reality show X Factor, Elton John admits that the man has given a break to some good talents, however all these talents could achieve was a gig at a night club! However this does not mean that the British singer detests one and all among todays generation of pop artists. Elton John says that he does have some favorites, and female artists Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga indeed have great talent in them.
The recent interview also makes it clear that Elton John does not like the concept of reality music shows on television. Speaking about American Idol, he says that the program is boring and he has no wish to enter the television world as judge of any music show at any point of time in his career.
Elton Johns latest album The Union is up for release next week.
