Emily Mortimer: Cars 2 is staggering

23rd May 2011

(Cover) - EN Movies - Emily Mortimer can't get over how "glamorous" Cars 2 is.

The 39-year-old British actress provides the voice of Holley Shiftwell in the animated adventure, which is set for release internationally next month and is the sequel to 2006 hit Cars.

Emily has already had the chance to watch the movie back, and the main thing she can't get over is how aesthetically pleasing it is.

"Yes, I have. It's still rough cut, but we saw it this morning and it's just so staggering, I can't get over it. Incredibly impressive and beautiful, just scene after scene, shot after shot is just more and more mind-boggling," she told Collider.

"I didn't think it was possible to make an animated film that looked - it just is so glamorous, you know? It looks as good, if not better, than those huge budget live-action spy movies."

Cars 2 tells the tale of a racing star who pals up with his friend for an adventure racing against some of the fastest cars in the globe. Stars including Owen Wilson and Michael Caine voice characters in the picture, and Emily is proud of the movie's heart-warming plot.

"Whereas they often forfeit, for spectacle, the characters and the story where you go just to be sort of blown away, this is still basically a story about friendship and it's sweet and funny, and the characters are so great, [it has] all the characters from the first movie. To me it's incredibly impressive how they managed to pull it off," she smiled. (C) Cover Media
