The year 2014 has been extremely difficult for Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi. On the personal front, his life was going through a rough patch and it was a sensitive matter for him as his four-year-old son Ayan had been diagnosed with cancer.

Emraan as any other concerned parent, was troubled with the fact that his bundle of joy was battling with such a dreaded disease. But being a thorough professional, the actor never let his professional commitments get compromised.

Be it taking his son abroad for treatment, to shooting for his films, Emraan did it all. But after 6 months of treatment and all the hard work, he is glad that things worked out for better.

His son has recovered from the disease which started with the detection of tumor in his kidney. Ayan has resumed his daily activities and has also started going to school.

Emraan who breathes a sigh of relief, claims that his son has been extremely brave throughout the whole process. "At times, ignorance is bliss. Kids being kids, they don’t have the baggage of fear about the term cancer. My only worry was that it would impact him psychologically. Scars were never a problem, it was the ailment that we were trying to tackle, and he has sailed through it," he said.

Though Emraan confessed that the process was taxing for the toddler, "At times he would cry when we would take him to the hospital, but otherwise he was all smiles. He was initially on the IV, but we later put him on port, which is the best way for any cancer patient to take medicines," he smiled.
