Like any other child who has some dream and some idol, Eric's idol was Mel Gibson and he also wanted to be an actor. Who knew that this child's dream would come true one day! Tall at 6'3" (yet short by his family standards, considering his brother is 6'8") and extremely versatile and handsome, Eric Bana, the  Australian Television and Film actor, will be celebrating his 43rd birthday today, i.e. 9th August, 2011.  

An accomplished dramatic actor and comedian, he received Australia's highest film and television awards for his performances in 'Chopper', 'Full Frontal' and 'Romulus, My Father'.

His career was not always as rosey as it looks now. He started off washing cars and being a bartender at Melbourne's Castle Hotel. He was always a great mimicry artist and in fact, started doing impressions of his family and friends right from the age of six or seven. His friends encouraged, in fact, persuaded him to become a stand-up comedian.

In 1993, Bana made his television debut on Steve Vizard's late night talk show, Tonight Live and he and his performance were instantly noticed. Bana went on to act in several TV shows and movies. In the process, he become the 2 time winner of Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 'Chopper' and 'Romulus, My Father'. He also won Logie Award for Most Popular Comedy Personality in TV Series called 'Full Frontal'. His latest movie was 'Hanna'.
