The Evergreen Romantic Superstar of Indian Cinema Dev Anand, aged 88, passed away last night due to cardiac arrest. The veteran actor, who was in London for a medical checkup, was not keeping well for the last few days. His son Sunil was with him when he breathed last.

True to his name Dev 'Anand’(happiness), the superstar gave happiness to millions across the world. Giving countless hits including Paying Guest, Guide, Baazi, Jewel Thief, CID, Johny Mera Naam, Amir Garib, Warrant, Hare Rama Hare Krishna and Des Pardes, Dev Sahab, as he was fondly called, entertained cinema lovers over five decades. His last film as an actor, director and producer was ‘Chargsheet’ which released on 30th September, 2011.

For his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, the Government of India honoured Dev Sahab with the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 2001 and Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 2002. In his lifetime, Dev Anand won three Filmfare Awards including the Best Actor award for ‘Kalapani’, Best Film Award for ‘Guide’ and Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991.

Dev Sahab pioneered the style quotient with his sauve and debonair image in Indian Cinema. As they say 'True Legend Never Dies', he will live forever in the hearts of his fans across the world. Fridaymoviez deeply mourns the death of one of the greatest Legends of Indian Cinema!!!
