(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ewan McGregor has recalled his awkward drunken encounter with Iggy Pop.

Before making his commitment to alcohol abstinence in 2000, Ewan found himself in an embarrassing situation with rock idol Iggy.

In the late 1990s Ewan attended a fashion event where Iggy was set to perform. After the performance, a drunken Ewan headed backstage to meet him.

He decided to dance for Iggy, and while performing his jig, Ewan looked up to see Iggy staring at him unimpressed.

"The alcoholic fog sort of cleared and I could see myself [dancing], and I went, What? What are you doing? You must stop what the f**k are you doing?' and Iggy Pop was sitting there going, Yeah, that's cool, man.'" Ewan said to BULLETT magazine.

Ewan was overwhelmed by embarrassment in that moment and had no idea what to do next.

"I didn't know what to do," he added. "It was so embarrassing. I think I just shuffled out of the dressing room and got the f**k out of there as quickly as possible."

Ewan's newest indie flick Salmon Fishing in the Yemen is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival September 16. (C) Cover Media
