The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) has strongly reacted to the Tamil Film Producers Council's (TFPC) decision to start a new workers' organisation, in the place of FEFSI.

An emergency meeting was convened in Chennai on Tuesday, in which office bearers of FEFSI discussed the issue and issued a statement to the media later.

The statement read: 'We strongly condemn the decision to create a divide between workers. It is impossible to break FEFSI as we stand united. Some selfish members of the Producers Council are involved in this act.'

It added: 'We are always here to support genuine producers. But we will not bow our heads to unfair demands. FEFSI is a four-decade old organisation supported by three Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu. It is not easy to break this organisation.'
