(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
The two stars are taking over from Ricky Gervais, who famously held the reins for the last three years. The British comedian was renowned for poking fun at the famous faces in attendance and it's thought Tina and Amy will bring a new dynamic to proceedings.
The ceremony will be aired on NBC on January 13 and the network's bosses are adamant the female stars are the perfect choices.
"Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year's festivities is a major coup," President of Alternative and Late Night Programming at NBC Entertainment Paul Telegdy said. "Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL [US TV show Saturday Night Live] to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama."
The Golden Globes are handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The organisation's president Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly hopes Tina and Amy will attract a new generation of viewers to the ceremony.
"The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action," she said. "The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show's 70th anniversary!"
The awards will be staged at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles. (C) Cover Media
