Prakash Raj's journey as a producer has been significant. An actor with five national awards had laid his first step in direction last year when he directed the Kannada movie Naanu Nanna Kanasu. And now through Dhoni, he is also setting his footsteps in Telugu and Tamil. According to Prakash Raj, film is like a painting. An actor is just a colour in a painting. It is the director who blends the different colours and converts his dream into a beautiful painting.
Starting from my first movie Duet, I've been a colour in the paintings of many Directors in different languages. Also, I've had the opportunity to produce good movies. My excitement triples with Dhoni as I produce, direct and act in it. To direct is a very important journey for me to reinvent myself.
Music is by Maestro Illayaraja. After a long time, he has done a live recording for all the songs. These days, each instrument is recorded separately and then mixed through technology. But Dhoni's songs were recorded live with the entire orchestra playing at the same time.
As per Prakash Raj's request Maestro has also accepted to do a live recording for the background score.
