Flintstones Completes 50 Years In Showbiz

October 5, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Recently Google changed the Logo on its search engine to celebrate 'The Flintstones' 50 years in the industry. The popular Hannah Barbera produced animated sitcom premiered on ABC 50 years ago on this day. Since then Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty have become famous all over the world. The two families are neighbors and close friends and the sitcom has manged to keep the audience glued to screen for a long time.

The Flintstones premiered on ABC from 1960-66 and it went on for 166 original episodes. The Flintstones was Televisions first animated sitcom series to run for such a long time. Here is some trivia for The Flintstones fans out there, the pilot of the popular show was originally named The Flagstones. The name Gladstones was also considered before the creators settled with Flintstones and the rest is history.

The biggest attraction of the show was the unique way in which todays gadgets were shown in the backdrop of the stone-age. Even the paper boy used to throw out stone tablets which always nailed Fred. The very first episode was aired is September 30, 1960 it was titled The Flintstone Flyer, which showed Fred and Barney make a daring escape on Barneys hand cranked helicopter after getting dragged to an opera by Wilma and Betty. Over the years we have grown to love the accident prone Fred and his best friend Barney. We hope that the franchisee keeps going strong.
