September 3, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Khichdi, the movie, which is a big screen adaptation of the popular sitcom on television, is going to be released by Fox Star Studios on this October 1. Hats Off Productions has produced the movie, whose sitcom version used to be aired on Star Plus in 2002.

The movie is a comedy like the TV version and Aatish Kapadia has written and directed it. The sitcom series was produced by Hats Off Productions and the show broke all earlier records by gaining the highest TVR for a comedy sitcom ever on Indian satellite television.

Vijay Singh, the CEO of Fox Star Studios India, was quoted stating that they are very thrilled about the feedback they received from the audiences, who were shown the movie. He said that the audiences loved the clean comedy and found it much funnier than many other recent comedy movies. Singh said that the family viewers cannot watch most of the comedies of today, because of the double meaning factor in it, but they can watch 'Khichdi' with the whole family, without any hesitation.

Singh further added that the Hats Off Productions' producer Jamnadas Majethia approached them with this idea of taking the television's humorous characters to the big screen. He further said that they have faith on Hats Off Productions that has an wonderful track record and has the understanding of the comedy genre.

Majethia said that they are hoping that the movie can create the same magic as the television show did. He hoped the audience would enjoy watching the humor again.
