Frank Coraci: UK comedy rules

21st July 2011

(Cover) - EN Movies - Frank Coraci wants his fellow Americans to embrace a more British attitude to comedy.

The 45-year-old moviemaker is currently promoting comedy Zookeeper, which stars Kevin James in the title role, and is also famed for his work on comedy smashes such as Click and The Wedding Singer.

Frank is proud of Zookeeper, which tells the tale of an unlucky-in-love keeper who receives romantic advice from zoo animals. The picture has been praised for its hilarious scenes, although Frank has come to accept comedy can sometimes flop.

"In general, comedy is one of those things that can have more misses than hits. In the beginning of my career, I didn't realise how much harder comedy was to do really well than it is to do drama really well," he told Cover Media.

"I think the Brits have it right when it comes to their respect for comedy. It's always been something they are very critical of, but when it's good they really celebrate and appreciate it. Hopefully, we'll get that here someday."

Frank was overjoyed to work with funnyman Kevin on Zookeeper. The director appreciates Kevin's famously skilled approach to physical comedy.

"I enjoy physical comedy very much. I feel like it's really not that easy to do," he added.
