FUTILE 50 FOR 'MODHALA SALA'
18th February 2011
What is the net result of 50 days screening of 'Modhala Sala'. No profit yet for the producers but the film is talked highly for its content.
Is this running on deficit in theatres? Of course not says the main producer Mallikarjun. The coupons sold in the beginning worth Rs.100 for audio CD and that included the ticket price kept us going for a few weeks. Nearly 15000 coupons were sold and soon after this we involved the colleges and schools with 50 percent rebate on the tickets to get the audience attention.
The first Cinerama theatre in Asia Kapali was never houseful is another fact. But the proprietor of the theatre Dr Ramachandre Gowda says running 50 days is equivalent to 100 days in any other theatre. That is the capacity of the theatre.
But in the case of 'Modhala Sala' it is not applicable.
