George Clooney likes to "have some fun" during awards season.

The 50-year-old actor has been nominated for numerous accolades for his work in The Descendants.

George thinks that it is important to include merrymaking in his schedule when the annual Golden Globe and Academy Award chaos commences.

"We tend to have parties away from where the other parties are because they're a little more fun," George told OK! magazine. "And usually the after parties are work. So it's fun to go with your friends somewhere and just literally have a drink and have some fun."

George admits that he has other ways of coping with his manic agenda.

"I just drink," George joked. "Drinking and passing out."

George relishes the opportunity to catch up with his film peers at this time of year despite the frenzy.

"You run into the same group," he said, "So it's nice. There are a lot of people who are friends. It is a little bit of a fraternity."

George has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Actor category.

The 69th Golden Globe Awards will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 15.
