(Cover) - EN Showbiz - George Clooney duped Walter Cronkite at a dinner party, he has revealed.

George has a home in Lake Como, Italy, where he entertains quite frequently.

At a dinner party in 2007, celebrated news anchorman Walter Cronkite, who was 90-years-old at the time, was a guest at the gathering.

George is a notorious prankster and could not help but bring some mischief to Walter.

"We did one of those things where he said, Do we dress for dinner?' and, of course, we don't, and I said, Yes,' and there's about 15 of us," George recounted on The Late Show With David Letterman on Wednesday.

"So he came out in a navy jacket and captain's hat and we were all in robes at the table. He said something that I'm actually not allowed to repeat on television."

When Walter saw everyone in different attire, the newsman walked upstairs to change his clothes again.

"And while he did we all ran upstairs, changed and put on suits," George said.

The second time Walter came down and saw that his attire did not match his fellow guests', the anchorman had enough.

"He came out in long shorts and walked by us and was like, B*****ds'" George recalled.

"And he jumped in the lake."

George's new film The Ides of March is currently in US theatres. (C) Cover Media
