Giuliana Rancic has defended Kim Kardashian's short-lived marriage, saying "things happen".

The E! News host is good friends with Kim's family.

The reality TV star shocked the world when she filed for divorce from Kris Humphries just 72 days after their lavish wedding. Giuliana insists the couple shouldn't be judged.

"I think with Kim mistakes happen. She really is in love with love. I don't think they are bad people or this was intentional, things happen," she said.

"I know the Kardashians personally, I've been to their home they are a very nice family, they are good people."

Giuliana appears in a reality television show alongside her husband Bill Rancic. It has charted their wedded life, as well as their struggle to start a family.

Bill recently decided to move to Los Angeles to spend more time with Giuliana, as she's based in the city.

In the show, called Giuliana and Bill, he admitted being worried about relocating as he'd have no friends once he moved.

Giuliana has joked Bill is fine now as he has already made "one" pal.

"LA's in some ways a very phoney town, people just want to know what you can do for them," she added to an Australian radio show.
