Gwyneth Paltrow: I am flawed

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow says she is deeply flawed and constantly battles insecurities.

The star enjoys a successful acting career and is happily married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Although on the surface, Gwyneth may seem like a confident woman who can juggle her work with raising the couples two children, the 38-year-old admits she often doubts herself. The actress puts a lot of pressure on herself to be perfect and she believes this stems from her low self-esteem.

"One of my most negative qualities is this perfectionism that I have, and I think that I unconsciously project that because it comes from self-doubt and insecurity, and that's the ironic part," she told USA Today. "I'm so deeply flawed. I'm just a normal mother with the same struggles as any other mother who's trying to do everything at once and trying to be a wife and maintain a relationship.

"There's absolutely nothing perfect about my life, but I just try hard."

As well as acting, Gwyneth has recently been dazzling audiences worldwide with her singing talents and has performed at the Grammys, the Oscars and secured a recurring guest spot on American musical television show Glee. The star loves singing and has revealed she is currently considering offers from four different record labels.

Now Gwyneth has turned her attentions to food and is currently promoting her new cookbook My Fathers Daughter, which was inspired by her late father Bruce Paltrow who died in 2002. She is sure her father would be proud of her, and although she famously followed a strict macrobiotic diet for many years, she is now more relaxed about what she eats.

"I haven't been macrobiotic in seven years, so it seems sort of foreign at this point, she revealed. Although, a lot of the principles, like trying to eat whole foods and homemade foods and local foods and seasonal foods, that's still very much a part of the way I think about food.

"It's American family food; it's very accessible and easy to make. It's mostly on the healthier side, although there are definitely some guilty pleasures in there.

"I think my dad would be happy that my life is centring around the domestic and that I'm also getting to do these amazingly exciting things and that I'm working hard." (C) Cover Media
