Harry Potter author donates books to charity

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - J. K. Rowling has donated a full set of signed Harry Potter books to a teenager raising money to honour her late friend.

The British writers series of childrens novels about life at a school for wizards is adored by both youngsters and adults across the globe, and the success of the franchise has placed J. K. on various compilations of the worlds richest people.

Harry Potter fan Shona Macleod, 15, decided to contact the novelist when she wanted to raise 950 for a park bench where she could talk to her pal Kieran Goulding, also 15, after he passed away following a coach crash.

Shonas mom Lisa has told British newspaper The Daily Mirror the pair were absolutely amazed to receive the books with a handwritten letter.

I am so very sorry to hear about Kieran. What a wonderful way to communicate to him, read the accompanying note.

It is expected that the seven books, which include some first editions, will fetch 4,000 when they go to auction at Bonhams in Oxford on Tuesday.

Because Shona will surpass her target for the bench, she plans to give the extra 2,050 to local rescue charities including helping terminally ill children. (C) Cover Media
