When The Godfather released, one was sure of the fame and recognition that Al Pacino was about to get. There was no looking back for the actor and today he is regarded as one of the most iconic figures Hollywood has. 

We celebrate the talented actor’s birthday today.

Al Pacino was born on 25 April 1940 and he started his career in acting as a stage actor. His portrayal as the young and revengeful Michael Corleone in The Godfather is even today considered as one of his best performances.  He received his first Academy Award nomination for his performance in the film. 

After receiving several nominations, Al Pacino finally walked away with the Oscar Award for the Best Actor for his performance in Scent of a Woman. 

He also gave a path-breaking performance in Scarface after getting into a series of controversies with movies like Author! Author and Cruising. He received the Golden Globe Best Actor nomination for his performance in this film.  

The actor today is busy with his upcoming movies like Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father, King Lear, Despicable Me 2 and Stand Up Guys.
