Happy Birthday Kevin James...

Kevin James, widely known for playing Doug Heffernan on the CBS sitcom The King of Queens, celebrates his birthday today. The actor who was born on 26 April 1965 is a well known American actor, comedian, writer and producer. 

Kevin did not realize his talent until he attended Cortland University. He played fullback on the football team while majoring in sports managements. After three years he realized that it was not the path chosen for him. So after returning home he decided to join a community theater to break the monotony of summer. He loved the crowd reaction when he was staged as a comic character in a play and he joined his brother’s improve group. 

James began doing stand-up comedy in 1989 making his debut at the East Side Comedy Club in Long Island, New York managed by Richie Minervini. He has performed stand up for 11 years.  

His initial guest appearances in Romano’s hit CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, led to the development of his own sitcom, The King of Queens.  The series ran from 1998 to 2007. 

His big break came in 1996 when he won at the 'Just for Laughs' Montreal Comedy Festival. James made his film debut in the 2005 romantic comedy, Hitch, alongside Will Smith and Eva Mendes

In 2011 he had the leading role in the movie, Zookeeper, which he wrote and produced.

The actor is currently busy with his upcoming releases like Little Boy, Hotel Transylvania, Here Comes The Boom and Grown Ups 2
