Popular actress Rosario Dawson turns a year older today. The American actress who is also a popular singer was born on 9th May 1979. 

Started with a small role in the film Kids at the age of 15, Dawson went on to star in independent films to big budget blockbusters like Men In Black 2, Unstoppable, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightening Thief to name a few.

Rosario being discovered as an actor, it was in 2005 that she got a chance to express her singing talent. And it was the hit New York musical, Rent, that gave her the golden opportunity.

Apart from acting and singing the actress has also lent her voice for animation series like Wonder Woman, Afterworld (TV Series) and The Haunted World of El Superbeasto. 

Throughout her career, Dawson proved her versatility in her acting skills with the diverse roles that came to her. She won her first award, NAACP Image Award for Best Actress for her performance in the movie Seven Pounds.
