Silambarasan a.k.a Simbu a.k.a STR will be celebrating his 27th birthday today.
Simbu is the son of director, music composer, actor, screenwriter and politician Vijaya T. Rajendar and former actress Usha Rajendar.
The young lad who introduced himself as "Little Superstar" in a film directed by his father way back has made the right strides as an actor and has a considerable fan following.
Born on 3rd February 1984, Silambarasan started off as a child artist in many of his father's (Vijaya T. Rajendar) films. He was also introduced as a hero by his father through the film "Kadhal Azhivathillai" in the year 2002.
Silambarasan featured in many films and is said to have worked in about 25 films before he turned 25 himself.
In 2004 Silambarasan wrote the screenplay for the film "Manmadhan" which was directed by A. J. Murugan. This film became a box-office hit and eventually became sough-after by fans. Then came the film "Saravana" which did well at the box office. Silambarasan wrote and directed "Vallavan" which also did decent business at the box office.
He is also a very good playback singer along with being an actor. He first sung playback in "Sonnal Thaan Kaadhala" and has since sung over 40 songs for various composers. He predominantly sings in his own films and has collaborated mostly with his friend and fellow composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. Silambarasan has also penned lyrics for several songs from his films. On 27th December 2011, Silambarasan released his first non-filmy promo single "Love Anthem For World Peace and Love" to promote world peace. The song was composed by Silambarasan himself and the lyrics contain words of 96 global languages.
In 2010, his 25th film "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa" released, in which he was paired with Trisha Krishnan. Directed and written by Gautham Menon, the film fetched positive reviews and became his biggest success in his career. Silambarasan received critical acclaim for his performance as Karthik, resulting in several awards and nominations.
There are many films waiting in the pipeline for Silambarasan that include "Podaa Podi" a romantic musical (planned to be shot entirely in London) with Varalaxmi, daughter of Sarathkumar.Currently, he is shooting for the action thriller Vettai Mannan. He has also starred in the film "Osthi" remake of the Hindi Blockbuster "Dabangg".
Silambarasan by nature is a happy-go-lucky guy who also happens to be controversy friendly, but still he certainly is poised to be a big star in Tamil Cinema.
