Happy Birthday Winona Ryder!

29th October 2011

Winona Ryder, an American actress who is the favourite of many all over the world. She has won several awards for her outstanding performances and as much beautiful she looked when she was a teenager, she hasn't changed a bit even now; she is still the pretty, young, girl-next-door.

Winona Ryder was born Winona Horowitz and named after a town Winona near which she was born.

She is the Goddaughter of Timothy Leary. She once edited a book called "Shaman Woman Mainline Lady" an anthology of writings on the drug experience in literature - this included one piece by Louisa May Alcott. Winona Ryder was later to star as Jo in this author's Little Women in 1994.

At 13 she had a video audition to the film Desert Bloom (1986), but didn't get the part. Director David Seltzer, however, spotted her and cast her in Lucas (1986). When telephoned to ask how she'd like to have her name appear on the credits, she suggested Ryder because a Mitch Ryder album which belonged to her father was playing in the background. She went on to act in several films and many significant ones like Edward Scissorhands, Mermaids, The Age of Innocence, Star Trek and Black Swan.

Ryder won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Academy Award nomination in the same category for her role in The Age of Innocence in 1993, as well as another Academy Award nomination for Little Women the following year for Best Actress. In 2000, Ryder received a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California. In 2006, Ryder returned to the screen, later appearing in high-profile films such as Star Trek and Black Swan. In 2010 she was nominated for two Screen Actors Guild Awards, as the lead actress of When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story, and as part of the cast of Black Swan.

Inspite of her personal life always being under the media scanner, her acting skills overshadow everything else. Fridaymoviez wishes this fabulous actress a very Happy Birthday!
