Hart upsets execs with VMA Stewart joke

7th September 2012

Kevin Hart angered executives with his Kristen Stewart cheating scandal joke at the VMAs.

The comedian hosted Thursday night's MTV Video Music Awards.

Kevin is known for his outspoken comedy style.

Last night was no exception, as he opened up the show with a jab aimed at Twilight's leading lady.

"She allegedly messed around with a director [Rupert Sanders]," Kevin said. "She did it, so what. Look on the bright side. Here's the thing. They are now a part of the seven dwarfs: Dopey, sleepy, adultery, cheating. If you made a mistake, so what!"

Kevin's humour failed to impress the folks at MTV. They would have preferred he avoided the topic altogether.

"MTV producers were at first mad that [Kevin] brought up Kristen Stewart and the incident, but it wasn't a major issue with them because he didn't harp on it and make it his material for the entire night," a source told Hollywood Life.

"They're OK with things mostly because Kristen wasn't there and the Twilight gang hadn't fully shown up by the time he mentioned things."

Kristen skipped the show to promote her film On The Road at the Toronto Film Festival.

Robert Pattinson, who was in the audience, didn't seem too bothered by the joke.

"Rob was oblivious to the situation and he didn't even hear the joke at the time it was said, so it didn't have an effect on him when he came out later in the telecast," the source said.
