17th January 2018

Even after the green-signal from CBFC, the controversial brawl is still there in some parts of India in terms of the film's release. Hardly two weeks left for the release and now Haryana becomes the fourth state to ban 'Padmaavat'. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Magnus opus that is set to hit the silver screen on January 25 is already banned in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and now Haryana despite from the nod by the censor board.

However, the Aditya Nath Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has decided not to ban the film. The film had faced stiff opposition from some BJP leaders in Haryana. In November, both Vij and Goel had requested the information and broadcasting minister Smriti Irani to ban the film.

Haryana BJP leader Suraj Pal Amu, the party's chief media coordinator resigned in November and led protests against the film and had even offered 10 crores as "reward to behead" Bhansali and the film's lead actor Deepika Padukone.

Accusing the Haryana CM of "humiliating" the Rajput community, Amu had called him "arrogant". Amu even conducted meetings in districts like Panchkula and Bhiwani in which he was critical of the Haryana government. Other then Suraj Pal Amu, Rajput leaders like Deva Thakur too had announced that they would launch a strike against the film.
