Heidi Klum claimed her relationship with Seal was always "passionate", shortly before her marriage breakdown.
The German supermodel and British singer have announced they are separating after almost seven years of marriage, but insist they will remain friends.
Neither has given a reason for the split, although Seal has admitted they didn't always get along.
Heidi appears on the front cover of the March edition of UK InStyle magazine. The accompanying interview took place before the separation and in it she gushed about her now estranged-spouse.
"I don't know why we work, my husband and I. We just do. We are black and white - Yin and Yang. To me, his beautiful face, great body, amazing heart, voice, his ability to be a loving, caring person and fatherwhat can I say? He can be mad too and I have a lot of fun with him. He's off the cuff. He's not fixed in his ways. And he knows how to handle me. It's always been really passionate between us," she said.
Heidi and Seal were famous for throwing lavish parties where they renewed their wedding vows each year. The 38-year-old model explained it was a way for them to reconnect.
"I'm determined to mark our wedding every year with a really great party. We all work very hard and time goes by so fast and you can stumble over years without symbolic peaks in your life to remember - so we create those," she said.
The star also reminisced about the first time she saw Seal.
They met in The Mercer Hotel in New York City, when Heidi was pregnant with her daughter Leni. The child's father is Flavio Briatore, although Seal later adopted her.
"Yes, we locked eyes and, wellwe were immediately attracted to each otherHe'd come into the hotel from the gym and he was sweaty and wanted to take a shower. I said, 'No, stay with me. I don't mind'. And he said, 'No, but I'll be back'. And he did go to his room," she recalled. "And he did come back. And knowing him now, he was very fast and he's a man who usually really takes his time. So now, I know he really wanted to come back."
Heidi and Seal have three other children, Henry, six, Johan, five, and two-year-old Lou. Their father is very protective of them and insists they have bodyguards whenever he is away.
"That's something my husband insists upon when he's away. He says, If I can't be there to protect you, I have to have another man who can,'" Heidi said.
"Seal and I have a bottom line and that's to protect the kids."
